About webdevutility
webdevutility is a collection of 115 free online tools for web developers. It covers converters between JSON, CSV, PHP, YAML and XML, formatters for JSON, HTML and CSS, Base64 and URL encoders, hash, HMAC and JWT utilities, UUID and cron generators, and front-end helpers for colors, gradients and unused CSS.
Why this site exists
Many online developer tools send whatever you paste to a server. That is fine for a sample string. However, it is a problem for an API response with customer data, a JWT from production, or a config file full of secrets. Almost every tool on this site runs in your browser with JavaScript, and nothing you type or upload is transmitted, logged or stored. To check this, open the Network tab in your browser's developer tools while you use a tool. The exceptions are five network tools (DNS, WHOIS, redirect, uptime and IP checks) that only work from a server; the privacy policy lists what they send.
The second goal is speed. There is no sign-up, paywall or "pro" tier. You open a page, paste your input and copy the result.
Who builds it
An independent web developer builds and maintains the site. The tools started as scripts and snippets from day-to-day work with PHP, JavaScript and data pipelines, which is why the converters cover PHP arrays as thoroughly as JSON.
How the tools are built
The site is generated as static pages with Astro and styled with Tailwind CSS. Each tool is a single page with plain JavaScript, using browser APIs such as the Web Crypto API for hashing and HMAC, FileReader for local files, and the URL API for parsing. A few tools load a well-known open-source library into the page (Sass.js, js-yaml, SheetJS, Day.js), so compilation and parsing still happen on your machine.
